What is Blackjack Tournaments?
* Blackjack tournaments allow you to compete with players from around the world for large cash jackpots. Many online casinos now sponsor weekly or monthly tournaments which we list below.
There are quite a few casinos that are offering more Blackjack tournaments and it's always advisable that you know the basics on how to play blackjack before you enter a tournament. In addition, tournaments can be a lot more fun than regular games as you must battle with your fellow players and try to outsmart them to win huge cash.
A typical Blackjack tournament consists of several rounds of play, with
tables of about 6 players competing
against each other in each round. There are two types of tournament formats
elimination and non-elimination.
1 or 2 players with the highest money at each table will advance to the next
round of play and the winner(s) here
is (are) called the elimination format. In a non-elimination tournament, players
compete against tournament players
to see which of them will finish with the most money after several plays of
rounds. Here no players are eliminated.
Each player will play a certain number of hands which at the end of the round, the player or players with the highest bankroll will advance. Every player will begin with the same bank roll. Table winners then compete against each other till there are 6 to 7 finalists to win the grand prize.
Rather than the dealer always dealing to the first seat, a button is placed on the table in front of a player, who serves as first base on this hand. The button then moves to each following player around the table. This gives each player the opportunity to play as first base and third base in turn.
Some tournaments do not always return 100% of the entry fees paid by the players. This means that the casino does not have advantage over the players in the tournament. Many casinos will guarantee the prize money even if the tournament does not fill up with entries. In these cases, the casino may include free rooms for tournament players, free meals and even a tournament gift. Always make sure you know the amount of pool prize and the amount of players requested for that tournament before playing.
Note: most casinos may request an entry fee for most Blackjack tournaments.
The pool prize structure is as follows and may vary depending on tournament size.
1st: $10,000 to $15,000
